Dharana or one-pointed concentration (which is called Mindfulness in modern days) is to train the Mind to focus on one task or stay in the present without wandering into the past or the future. Developing the mind to stay in the present is called Dharana which is essentially One Pointed Concentration. This practice alone has many benefits, including improving your ability to handle stress. This occurs at the level of your Mind and Senses.

Dharana or Mindfulness is an essential pre-requisite to embark on Meditation. When Meditation is done in the proper way, the experience is beyond your senses. Meditation consists of a meditator (ie. You and Me) and an object of meditation (be it a form of divinity you have devotion to or a candle flame or even other objects such as a mountain or ocean). During meditation, you will go through three stages viz. Concentration, Contemplation, and finally meditation(merging with the Object of meditation). This alone is true meditation. Β Often, Mindfulness exercises are mistaken to be Meditation. I will let you practice both Dharana and Dhyana (Meditation) in this workshop.
